What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese hands-on healing practice realized by Mikao Usui in the early 1900s. The word Reiki can be translated as “universal life force energy.” In a Reiki treatment, the practitioner acts as a conduit for this energy, allowing it to flow through the hands and into the client’s body and energetic field.

Sessions help quiet the mind, ease tension in the body, and support the body’s natural capacity for healing and balance.

Edmund Langdell

I trained as a Reiki Master Practitioner under Brian Brunius at the NYC Reiki Center.

I was drawn to Reiki through a personal vow within my spiritual practice: to live this life as a conduit for love, healing, and clarity in the world. Through Reiki, I found a direct expression of that vow, as the practitioner becomes a conduit for Reiki energy.

I am also a student of Hojin Sensei in the Mountains and Rivers Order of Zen Buddhism. I lived and trained at the Zen Center of New York City during a three-year residency with Hojin Sensei and sangha.

I was raised on a homestead in Vermont where my family grew and raised most of our own food year-round. That upbringing gave me a deep connection to the land, the cycles of life, and the interconnectedness of all living things.

My Reiki practice is grounded in compassion, and I strive to meet each person with presence, openness, and care.
